Satin Finishing

A Satin or Brushed finish as its more commonly known as gives the material a grain like appearance and texture. This is used on all non ferrous metals and is a durable and a low maintenance finish.

To achieve this finish, firstly we clean the item to remove any oil or dirt. The item then goes through an abrasive sanding process to remove any imperfections. Depending on size and complexity of the item, we use a satin mop on a pedestal polisher, a hand held burnisher or a satin hand pad to apply the grain.

There are varying grades from coarse through to very fine, we can advise what is most suitable for the you.

For stainless steel no coating or other surface treatments are required. For Aluminium, brass and copper to prevent oxidisation the material requires protection. We can use a chemical sealant or the item can be powder coated in a clear satin lacquer.

Polishing

For that wow factor we can polish non ferrous materials from a subtle polish to a full mirror finish. Primarily for a decorative finish, this is also used to reflect and dissipate heat and to reduce friction or in mould making industries to create a defect free and smooth surface.

To achieve this finish firstly we clean the item to remove any oil or dirt, the item then goes through an abrasive sanding process to remove any imperfections. This stage uses a far higher abrasive grit than a satin finish.

Then using a combination of different polishing mops, polishing compounds and a variety of machinery we polish the surface up to the finish required.

For stainless steel no coating or other surface treatments are required. For aluminium, brass and copper to prevent oxidisation, the material requires protection. We use a chemical sealant which gives great protection but does require occasional re-application. We do not recommend the use of lacquers as a protection due to issues that can arise from this.
